Fav Track: I'll Get You

This was the first song I ever heard by The Beatles. My mom bought the single for She Loves You on the SWAN label only because our last name is Swan. This was late 1963 and I had never heard of the Beatles, but at age 8 was already a music fan. I put the 45 on my little portable record player and had the B side on. When I heard those harmonies and that harmonica my life was never the same. After hearing I'll Get You about six times; my older brother threatened bodily harm so I flipped the disc to hear She Loves you.... need I say more.

  • Time marches on, yet this music sounds timeless. Thank you God.

The Beatles on iTunes on 21st Nov 10.

  • I found "Shine a Light" to be unwatchable. My hope is that Olivia has the final say. Martin is an amazing film maker but his last music doc was embarrassing.

George Harrison Documentary Directed By Martin Scorcese on 18th Jul 10.

  • I would love to see this on DVD, if only for the rooftop concert. I understand Paul is the hold out on it's release. Oh well, maybe someday.

Let It Be on 10th Mar 10.

  • These guys were so good "live". I would love to see a Volume Two...

Live At The BBC on 23rd Sep 09.

  • This film has stood the test of time. It is a moment in time when everything was in sync. I saw this in the theatre when it was first released, and you couldn't hear a word of dialog, as the girls were screaming so loud. It was as close as I would get to an actual Beatles concert. It was in film class that I actually saw (heard) the film and realized what a masterpiece it is.

    A Hard Day's Night on 22nd Sep 09.

  • What makes this little film so incredible is the hysteria of the moment. The performance is fun because the band seem to be completely comfortable with the madness. Although you can tell John Lennon is on the verge of a nervous breakdown, he's able to holds it together. This was pure madness on every level, and how they kept it together is beyond me.
As others have said, it would be wonderful to own the entire TV special on DVD. Maybe someday.

The Beatles At Shea Stadium on 22nd Sep 09.

  • As this is George Martins' last production of a Beatle song, it just proves once and for all the he WAS the 5th Beatle. The string arrangement is just amazing, and beautiful. Thanks George... Both of you.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Love) on 21st Sep 09.

  • This should be a magical experience. Polar Express was just amazing! I wonder if they could figure out a way to use the voices of the actual Beatles. By using all the recorded interviews they could take all the words needed for the script and edit them together. I'm sure it would be a painstaking process, but it would give the film an authenticity the original movie lacked.

Yellow Submarine in 3D on 15th Sep 09.

Rubber Soul

This was the record when the Beatles became more than just a pop band. They began to flex their musical might on an unsuspecting public. They never looked back. Revolver really does feel like part two of Rubber Soul; as George Harrison said in Anthology, and naturally if I was stranded on a deserted island I would require the complete Beatles catalog. Choosing a favorite song or album is completely impossible.
