Fav Track: I'm Looking Through You

My favourite track changes all the time, but I love "I'm Looking Through You" because of its clever lyrics and slightly folksy feel.

My Comments

  • That beard just didn't suit John at all.

The Beatles' final photo session together, at Tittenhurst Park on 21st Nov 09.

  • What were they thinking when they let John put this on the album?
I skip this most of the time, and it's the only Beatles track (it's not a song) I dislike (there's a few that I don't think are very good, but this one is so completely without merit...)

    Revolution 9 on 20th Nov 09.

  • A split was inevitable. We should be glad it happened at their peak (Abbey Road and Let It Be), rather than after they'd tried to hold it together and started to develop a "couldn't care less" attitude.

    1969 on 20th Nov 09.

  • Back when they were playing cinemas instead of stadiums.

A concert at the ABC Cinema, Manchester on 19th Nov 09.

  • I think Paul McCartney's performing this at the Children in Need concert tonight (8:00 BBC 1)

Back in the U.S.S.R (White) on 19th Nov 09.

  • This has so many classic songs and a great plot. It's very funny indeed.

    A Hard Day's Night on 19th Nov 09.

  • This is my favourite film ever! It's so funny, and the music is some of their best.

    Help! on 19th Nov 09.

  • I agree with the previous posters that children should learn about The Beatles in school, since their cultural significance is massive.
It's amazing how little is known about them. Today, I honestly had to tell someone that The Beatles didn't sing"Don't Stop Me Now" or "Bohemian Rhapsody" after they mixed them up with Queen. They then revealed that they hadn't heard of a single Beatles song. That's worrying...

    1957-1962 on 19th Nov 09.

  • George Harrison could write some amazing things, and this is the best example. Just listen to any of his solo albums.
He was overshadowed while he was in The Beatles by the Lennon/McCartney giant (this isn't a bad thing—they were fab—but it meant George didn't really have a chance to shine). Solo, I'd say his best work was on a par with much of John's, and this is certainly at the same standard as many Lennon/McCartney classics.

    Something on 18th Nov 09.

  • This is by far the best album in the world. The Beatles at their creative best. To think they made something as good as this even with all the tension in the band at the time.

Abbey Road on 18th Nov 09.

Abbey Road

Every single song on "Abbey Road" is amazing. The medley on side 2 is put together well, and the songs are technically brilliant while still managing to retain the close-knit feel of their earlier albums despite the rising tensions within the band at the time.

Does anyone have any idea of what I could do to make my John Lennon impression more accurate, or which aspects of John's rich and varied style I should attempt to emulate?
